Breath as a doorway

Breath is a doorway between the conscious and unconscious mind. The more awareness we have of our breath, the more conscious we become of everything, including our thoughts and feelings. We use the power of our own breath to heal and feel whole again.

What to expect

What is breathwork?

Breathwork is the practice of directing your breath to connect with your body and bypass your mind. A state similar to meditation is achieved through diaphragmatic, circular breathing. Think of emotions as the movement of energy in our bodies. In breathwork, these emotions, memories, and sensations are triggered so they can be appropriately processed and integrated into your life.

What's a session like?

New to breathwork? Don't feel intimidated; it's as easy as breathing. First, we will chat about your intentions and what you want to get out of the session. I'll teach you the simple breathing technique and prepare you to begin. Next, I will guide you through the session as you breathe along to music. After actively breathing for around 30 minutes, you take a big breath-hold, release, and relax into a meditative state.

How does it work?

Our autonomic nervous system controls our involuntary body functions like digestion, breathing, and heart rate. It is broken down into two parts. The sympathetic nervous system controls our "fight or flight" stress response system, and the parasympathetic nervous system stimulates our "rest and relax" response. Breathing is an exception since we breathe both voluntarily and involuntarily. Our autonomic and voluntary nervous systems are connected. By changing our breathing rate and depth, we produce various effects throughout the body.

Breathing in, there is only the present moment
